Kiwifootball/First Kicks is where 4 to 6 year old children get their first taste of football at Parklands United Sports Club.
This is a weekly one hour session introducing children to the basics of football, and runs during the winter football season on Saturday mornings at the Parklands Reserve.
Between 80 and 100 children ususally register each year, which gives a festival feel to the sessions. Teams are made up of 8 to9 players of similar age or ability. Where possible, friends and even family members are put together in the same group or team.
The one hour session is broken down into skill & fun game sessions, culminating in a 4 or 5 aside game.
Parents are encouraged to become involved as coaches and assistants meaning this is a real community event. One player from each team is awarded Player of The Day each week, being rewarded with a Player of the Day trophy & prize voucher from Subway Parklands, for their efforts.
Many of this club's future stars and most experienced coaches have started at Kiwifootball. Contact Junior Football Convenor Roger Welsh on 3831616 or
